LESSON 5
TRADE, COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENTS IN VENICE

Picture
In this lesson, you will learn about the favourable economic conditions (e.g. trade, commerce and industry) that enabled the rise of Venice from the 9th to 15th centuries.

Background

Venice grew and developed into an international centre of trade from the 9th to 15th centuries. Its strategic location on the Mediterranean enabled the city to attract ships from trading ports in other parts of Europe was well as Africa and Asia. These ships carried a wide variety of products, such as ivory, precious stones, and spices, which were bought by Venetian merchants or exchanged for such local products as woven wool cloth and coloured glass.

You may make use of any of the web 2.0 tools in designing the informational brochure. Below are some infographics creation sites that you may want to use for your task.
  • Piktochart
  • Easel.Ly
