LESSON 3
BONDING STRATEGIES


 In this lesson, you will explore and explore on the 3 different categories of bonding measures/ strategies that are employed by the Singapore government to foster unity and bonding amongst the various ethnic groups. These bonding strategies are pro-active measures in the management of diversity in multi-ethnic Singapore.

The class will be organised into 8 groups and each group will work on a 12-slides (minimum) presentation on the assigned bonding measures/ strategies.

Each of the 8 groups will take on one of these bonding strategies in Singapore:
  • Multi-racialism
  • Common Practices
  • Bilingualism
  • Self-help Groups
  • Minority Representation
  • Opportunities offered by Educational Institutions
  • Events and Programmes by PA, IRCC, HC
  • Shared Experiences through NS

The 12-slides (GoogleSlides) should include:
  • Slide 1: Name of bonding measure/strategy and Group Members
  • Slides 2-6: Description of bonding measure/strategy - i.e. what it's about
  • Slides 7-8: Some pictures to show case the bonding measure/strategy at work
  • Slides 9-10: Explanation on how the bonding measure/strategy will build cohesiveness among different ethnic groups in Singapore.
  • Slide 11: ONE short video clip (preferably of Singapore context) that can best showcase the specific bonding measure/ strategy
  • Slide 12 Credits and References
